My young son found the massive sheds on a scouting trip during early summer and, in an unbelievable stroke of luck, we were able to shoot some spectacular video of the tremendous bull in full velvet! It was now late November and our trophy elk had taken us on an exhausting two-day tour of the Rocky Mountains, moving like a spectre through winding creek bottoms and across several distant canyons. We heard his blood chilling bugle through a stand of nearby hardwoods with only thirty minutes of shooting light left in the season, and my son's breath completely left his body when we spotted the 6x6 monarch a mere fifty yards away...
